Pawleys Plantation Golf & CC
Pawleys Plantation pairs on-site golf with proximity to two of the most respected courses on the Grand Strand. Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club both sit within a ten-minute drive, and a three-day rotation through Pawleys Plantation, Caledonia, and True Blue constitutes one of the strongest short itineraries available in the Myrtle Beach area.
The on-site course is a Jack Nicklaus design that routes through salt marsh and along tidal creeks. It plays tighter than most Nicklaus layouts, demanding accuracy off the tee on several holes where marsh encroaches from both sides. The par-three fourth, played entirely over water to a green backed by live oaks, is the signature hole and one of the more photographed in the region.
The 100 villas are spread along the course, with most overlooking fairways or marsh. They are functional rather than luxurious: clean, reasonably maintained, and equipped with full kitchens. The furnishings reflect their vintage without apology. Guests who require contemporary finishes will be happier elsewhere; those who care primarily about the golf and the location will find the villas entirely adequate.
The pool and tennis courts serve their purpose. Dining options on the property are limited, but Pawleys Island's restaurant scene has grown steadily and now includes several kitchens worth visiting. Rates range from $130 to $250 per night, well below comparable on-course properties, making Pawleys Plantation one of the better value propositions in the southern Grand Strand. The combination of a strong on-site course and proximity to Caledonia and True Blue is difficult to replicate at this price point.
