Two nights and two rounds is a compressed format that demands selectivity. This itinerary makes the obvious choice for the first round and the informed choice for the second. TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course is the course everyone knows, the island green that has been broadcast into every living room with a sports channel.
Fly into Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) and drive 40 minutes to the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort and Spa. Check in and head to the first tee.
Check out of the Marriott and drive one hour north to Amelia Island. The shift in landscape is immediate: salt marshes replace Pete Dye's manufactured mounding, centuries-old live oaks replace spectator berms, and the Atlantic appears through the dunes rather than through the infrastructure of a tournament venue.
For groups that stayed a second night at the Omni or returned to the Ponte Vedra area, the morning is free. The drive to JAX takes 40 minutes from Ponte Vedra or one hour from Amelia Island.
The Sawgrass Marriott ($300 to $550 per night) is the recommended base for a two-night stay, providing on-site Stadium Course access and stay-and-play packaging. The Amelia Island day requires a one-hour drive each way, which is the trip's main logistical demand. A rental car is required.
Green fees total $700 to $950 for the two rounds. Lodging runs $600 to $1,100 for two nights. The remaining budget covers the rental car (approximately $80 to $110 for two days), meals, and any St. Augustine or Fernandina Beach activity.
The long weekend format forces a choice about what matters most. This itinerary prioritizes design quality over volume: two rounds on two genuinely distinctive courses rather than three or four rounds on layouts chosen to fill the schedule. The Stadium Course provides the moment that everyone expects. Long Point provides the one they did not see coming. The combination is more memorable than any three-round itinerary built around a single hub.
