This is the trip that Sand Valley was designed to produce. Five nights on property, four 18-hole rounds covering each of the resort's full-length courses, a session on The Sandbox, and enough unstructured time to let the place settle into memory rather than blur into a sequence of tee times. The estimated cost of $3,500 to $5,000 per person covers five nights of on-resort lodging, four 18-hole rounds at $295 each (peak season), a round on The Sandbox at $65, meals, and a rental car.
Arrive at Sand Valley from Madison (97 miles, 1.5 hours) or Central Wisconsin Airport (55 miles, 1 hour).
Morning round on the original Coore and Crenshaw course that gave the resort its name. At 6,913 yards and par 72, Sand Valley plays through exposed sand dunes with firm-and-fast conditions that reward the ground game.
Morning round on Sedge Valley, Tom Doak's 2024 heathland-inspired design. At sub-6,000 yards and par 68, the yardage suggests a breather.
The final morning is open. Sleep in, revisit The Sandbox, hike a trail not yet explored, or simply sit on the patio with coffee and look at the landscape.
Check out and drive to the airport. The drive back to Madison or Mosinee provides a decompression period that flights from hub-adjacent resorts do not offer.
On-resort lodging eliminates daily driving. A rental car is needed for the airport transfer and any off-property excursions but sits parked for most of the trip. All tee times book directly through the resort. Peak season weekends in July and August require the earliest booking. Caddies are available and recommended, particularly for The Lido, where local knowledge of the green complexes provides a material advantage.
