This itinerary maximizes the volume of quality golf available through Northern Michigan's resort stay-and-play model. The four courses span three properties, each with on-site lodging that bundles rooms and rounds at rates below what separate booking would produce. The trip is built for groups who want to play as much golf as possible without exceeding a moderate budget.
Fly into Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City or Pellston Regional Airport, and drive to Boyne Highlands Resort near Harbor Springs. Check in and head to the Heather course for an afternoon round.
Morning round on the Donald Ross Memorial course at Boyne Highlands. This is a composite design recreating 18 of Donald Ross's most celebrated holes from courses across the country.
Check out of Boyne Highlands and drive approximately one hour southeast to Treetops Resort in Gaylord. Morning round on the Masterpiece, Robert Trent Jones Sr.
Drive to Cherry Capital Airport for departure, approximately one hour and 15 minutes from Gaylord. Pellston Regional Airport is closer at roughly 45 minutes from the Boyne Highlands area, if flight schedules allow.
The two-property structure, with the first two nights at Boyne Highlands and the final night at Treetops, keeps driving on course days under an hour. The Day 2 drive between Boyne Highlands and Shanty Creek is the longest at approximately 50 minutes. Stay-and-play packages should be booked directly with the resorts for the best bundled pricing. A rental car is essential. All four courses offer riding carts, though walking is an option at each.
