Two nights and two rounds is the minimum viable Hilton Head golf trip, and this itinerary makes the most of the constraint by pairing the island's two most important courses: Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines and the Robert Trent Jones Course at Palmetto Dunes. They represent different eras, different design philosophies, and different price points, and playing them back to back on consecutive days provides a compressed survey of what Hilton Head golf is and where it came from. The estimated cost of $1,500 to $2,800 per person covers two nights of lodging, two rounds with carts, meals, and one off-course activity.
Arrive via SAV (50 to 60 minutes drive) or fly direct to HHH if connections allow. Check into the Hilton Beachfront Resort and Spa within Palmetto Dunes ($107 to $350 per night), which provides oceanfront lodging, proximity to the next day's course, and enough resort infrastructure, including a spa, pools, and restaurants, to keep non-golfers occupied.
The morning tee time at the Robert Trent Jones Course is a five-minute drive from the Hilton or a golf-cart ride from a Palmetto Dunes villa. Jones opened the course in 1969, the same year Dye built Harbour Town, and the philosophical contrast is immediate.
Check out and drive to SAV. For groups with a morning to spare, the beach or bike trails fill the time until departure logistics require attention.
Palmetto Dunes serves as the home base for both nights, providing direct access to the Jones course and oceanfront amenities. The Hilton Beachfront Resort offers the most convenient hotel option within the community. A Palmetto Dunes villa works well for groups of three or four sharing costs. Only the Day 1 round at Harbour Town requires driving to Sea Pines, and the dolphin cruise consolidates the Sea Pines visit into a single trip. A rental car is necessary for the airport transfer and the Sea Pines drive. The total driving across the entire trip amounts to less than three hours, most of it on the SAV transfer days, which leaves the middle of the trip largely car-free.
