This itinerary distills the Coeur d'Alene experience to its essential elements: the floating green, the region's strongest public course, the lake, and the downtown. Two nights at the Coeur d'Alene Resort provide a single base, and the two rounds cover the resort spectacle and the tribal-land immersion that together define the destination. The estimated cost of $1,500 to $2,200 per person covers two nights at the resort, two rounds, meals, activities, and a rental car.
Fly into Spokane International Airport and drive 45 minutes east to the Coeur d'Alene Resort. Check in, settle into the lakefront property, and head to the first tee for an afternoon round.
Morning drive to Circling Raven Golf Club, 30 minutes south in Worley. Gene Bates's 620-acre design provides the contrast that makes this trip more than a single-course visit.
Check out of the Coeur d'Alene Resort. A morning hike on Tubbs Hill, the 120-acre peninsula within walking distance of the resort, provides a final dose of the mountain-lake setting before the 45-minute drive to Spokane International Airport.
The single-base approach at the Coeur d'Alene Resort keeps the trip simple. The only significant drive is the 30-minute transit to Circling Raven on Day 2, and the return trip positions you for the afternoon cruise. A rental car is necessary for the Circling Raven round and the airport transfers. The resort's concierge handles tee time coordination at both courses.
Two nights is enough to experience the two courses that matter most, the lake from the water, and the downtown that gives the destination its personality. It is not enough for The Idaho Club and Sandpoint, which is the argument for the third night on the Bucket List itinerary. But as a long weekend, this trip delivers a complete experience in a format that fits a Thursday-to-Saturday schedule and leaves the visitor with a clear understanding of why this corner of Idaho, for all its remoteness, has attracted the attention it has.
