Kettle Moraine State Forest's Northern Unit covers thousands of acres of terrain shaped by the last ice age, 20 minutes south of the village of Kohler. The Ice Age National Scenic Trail runs 31 miles through the forest's northern unit.

A Wisconsin State Parks vehicle sticker, available daily for $5, is the only cost of entry. Open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. year-round.

Know before you go

The trail system carries no cell service in some sections. Download trail maps before arriving. Ticks are present from spring through autumn.
